Welcome to Home Works Lynchburg

Home Works is the framework to support Central Virginia's growing Home School community, while preserving the integrity of the parent's place as the educator, of the individual cooperatives that meet all over the city, of sports teams and science clubs.
Home Works is going to be a place for parents to work individually or together to fully realize their own personal homeschooling plan.

Tentative Timeline

2008 The Beginning
2008 Hire first employee - Robert Derke, Vice President
2009 Set up Board of Directors, Write Bylaws, Fundraising begins, Apply for 501(c)(3), Purchase / Obtain building, Funding complete for purchase of building, First stages of renovation begin~roof, architectural plans, zoning approval, buliding permits
2010 Renovate small portion of building for offices, library, conference rooms
2011 Used book store, classrooms, and gymnasium completed
2012 Opening of businesses that interface with the community, basment / ground floor level 2013 Open auditorium, finish ground floor (restaurants, indoor play area, some classrooms)
2014 Second floor completed, mostly classrooms
2015 Third floor completed, all offices finalized, museum/research room completed
2016 Greenhouse and upper floors completed 2017 Silos renovated for apartment rental and observatory
